Purpose

Traffic Citations

Studies have shown that traffic enforcement, i.e. issuing citations, reduces accidents. The Sinking Spring Police are committed to reducing the amount of accidents in the Borough of Sinking Spring by enforcing traffic laws.

Non-traffic Citations

Non-traffic citations are issued for summary violations such as Harassment, Disorderly Conduct, Curfew and Public Drunkenness. They are handled in the same manner as traffic citations, however, the fines are determined by the District Justice and you will have to contact that office to find out what the fine is.

Fines and Costs

Fines and costs are determined by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. If no fine is listed on your citation, you must contact the office of the District Justice, District 23-1-01, Phone 610-678-6721, to see what fine the District Justice is placing on that citation. Many violations carry a fine which is in a range, for example $200-$500. In those cases, the District Justice determines the fine.

Payment

You must respond to a citation within ten days. Failure to respond to a citation may result in a warrant being issued for your arrest, as well as loss of your driver’s license. Payment or a request for a hearing can be made by mail by following the instructions on the back of the citation.

You can also make payment for citations, or request a hearing at the office of the District Justice, District 23-1-01 located at 600 East Penn Ave., Suite 5, Wernersville, PA 19565.
